Precautions

  1. Do not drop the unit; it is not shockproof.
  2. Do not soak the display in water. Only the probe is waterproof.
  3. Do not boil the probe; instead, clean the unit by wiping it with a dry cloth and sterilize the probe with ethyl (rubbing) alcohol.
  4. Do not allow the unit to come into contact with any thinner or chemical solvents.
  5. Do not store the unit in direct sunlight or at high temperatures.
  6. Do not bend the unit.
  7. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit except to replace the battery.

How to replace the battery?

When the battery is almost exhausted, a symbol will appear in the display window.

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Use a toothpick or insulated probe to remove the battery. Avoid using any sharp metal object in this operation.
  3. Insert the new battery. (Note: Ensure battery polarity is correctly placed. The battery should be inserted with the positive side (+) facing up and the negative side (-) side facing down).
  4. Replace and fasten the cover securely.

Warning:

  • Swallowing a button battery may be fatal.
  • Do not attempt to recharge the battery.
  • Do not dispose of the battery in or near a fire as it may explode.

How to use?

  1. Press the on/off button. The display will read 188.8°C (188°F).
  2. Release the power switch and the display will show L°C (or L°F) with °C (or °F) flashing.
  3. Disinfect the probe with ethyl (rubbing) alcohol. Position the probe.
  4. Once the degree sign (°C or °F) on the display has stopped flashing (usually within 30 to 60 seconds), the correct temperature is indicated; the temperature reading will not change after the °C (°F) stops flashing. For the beeper model, only an alarm signal will sound for approximately 10 seconds when °C (°F) stops flashing.
  5. To avoid any influence from surrounding air, fold the arm over the chest, tightly covering the probe tip under the arm or put the probe tip under the tongue and close the mouth while taking the temperature.
  6. Remove the thermometer and carefully avoid pressing the on-off button. The temperature may be read before or after removal because the display will retain the stabilized temperature reading.
  7. The unit will automatically turn off in 8-10 minutes. However, to prolong the life of the battery, it is best to press the power switch once the temperature has been noted to turn it off.
